Where It All Started
Austin is one of the fastest-growing cities in America, home to the Texas School for the Deaf and nearly 100,000 Deaf and hard-of-hearing people. Yet only a small percentage have made a commitment to follow Jesus Christ.
In 2006, God called Rev. Debbie Stiles to leave Arizona and move to Austin. In the summer of 2007, she stepped out in faith and made the move, trusting God's direction. She strongly believed God was leading her to plant a Spirit-filled Deaf church in Austin, partnering alongside other Deaf Christian ministries to share the gospel with a community that needed it.
In November 2010, Austin Spirit of Life Deaf Church was born.

Meet Our Pastor

Rev. Debbie Stiles was born in Kansas City, Missouri and grew up in Phoenix, Arizona. She accepted the Lord at age 5 and answered God's call to ministry in 1976. She graduated from Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri in 1981 with a major in Bible and a minor in Deaf Ministries.

For over 40 years, God has used Rev. Debbie in Deaf ministry across the country. She pastored two Deaf church groups in Arizona, served as the Arizona district director of Deaf Ministries for 16 years, and led annual mission teams to northern Mexico. In 1998, she was ordained under the Assemblies of God.

In 2007, God called her to Austin to plant a Spirit-filled Deaf church. She answered that call with faith and obedience — and in November 2010, Austin Spirit of Life Deaf Church was born.
Today, Rev. Debbie serves as pastor of ASLDC and as the NF South Region Representative, supporting Deaf ministries across 13 states and territories. She is a professional ASL interpreter and has a deep, genuine love for the Deaf community.

What We Believe
-
There is ONE God that includes 3 persons - Father God (creator), Son of God Jesus Christ (Lord and Savior), and Holy Spirit (daily comforter, teacher, and friend).
-
Salvation through acceptance and following of Jesus Christ as the only Son of God - is the only way to go to Heaven.
-
The rapture of the "church" (all followers of Jesus Christ) will happen one day soon! It could happen at any moment!
-
"Divine healing" is for today! This means God can do a miracle of healing, things that don't normally happen in a medical way!
-
The "Baptism in the Holy Spirit" is a separate experience after salvation, and it is available today to anyone that wants it (Acts 1:4-8; Acts 2:1-4). It is for more boldness and power to share the gospel - this is not a requirement to go to Heaven.
-
Jesus Christ will return in the clouds, can be any day now!
